This display was inspired by the spirit of Halloween. I wanted to create something ominous while utilizing some of the skills gained thus far in my photoshop experience.

I began with a series of four photos layered on top of one another. Each photo was enhanced in camera raw. Altering each photo to be in black and white achieved the aesthetic I was looking for.

Using the select and mask tool, I selected the pieces of each photo that I wanted to use (the background, the dress, the hair, and the bats).

After selecting and masking each piece, I selected a variety of blending modes and opacities for each piece so that it fit and blended with the overall display.

I added some essential touches to the piece by adjusting the placement of certain selections, mainly the lady in the dress to match the lighting of the forest to the lighting on her. The bats were also placed to put a focus on the subject of the display.

Finally, the display was cropped to place the subject on a rule of thirds line which is most visually appealing.
